Chubby Hubby Rice Krispies Treats

Chubby Hubby Rice Krispies Treats

So, I have been craving all things peanut butter and chocolate lately. It started last week with some no bake chocolate-peanut butter-oat-coconut thingies that, by the way I convinced myself were a healthy breakfast because they had oats in them.

Well, those are no longer a problem. Ahem

But the craving still lingers.

One of my favorite bloggers, Michelle from Brown Eyed Baker had posted this recipe and I had to give it a shot. It had all the makings of a favorite recipe.

Sweet and simple. Who knew laziness is something that goes hand and hand with someone who is constantly craving chocolate and peanut butter?

If you are looking for a great twist on a classic and also something that will stop the arguing in your head. You know the argument. “You got chocolate in my peanut butter!” “You got peanut butter in my chocolate!” Whip up a batch of these.

Chubby Hubby Rice Krispies Treats

1 bag mini marshmallows
3 T. unsalted butter
4 c. Rice Krispies (or similar cereal)
2 c. crushed pretzels
1/2 c. peanut butter chips
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
2 c. semisweet chocolate chips

Spray a 9×13 inch baking dish; set aside

Spray a large bowl and add cereal, peanut butter chips and pretzels. Mix them all up.

In a large a saucepan, melt butter over low heat and add marshmallows until completely melted.

Remove from heat and add peanut butter until completely melted and smooth. Add to cereal mixture and combine.

Pour into prepared baking sheet and press to flatten.

Melt chocolate chips in microwave on medium (50%) power at 30 second intervals, stirring after each until melted. Spread in an even layer across the top with an offset spatula. Let cool at room temperature for about an hour until set. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
