I was given the honor of making baby shower favors for my friend Melanie.
I wanted to do something special. Mel had said she didn’t want a food favor. No cookies or cupcakes. She wanted to pamper her friends. I thought this was a perfect opportunity for spa boxes. And since Melanie can no longer see her feet, at least her friends can, so pedicure kits it was.
Clear plastic cubes filled with jars of homemade lavender scrub, toe separators, pink OPI polish, emery boards and orange wood sticks and of course, a special little chocolate.
The boxes were wrapped in a double contrasting ribbon and sealed at the top with a custom label with a simple “Thank You” and the baby’s name and shower date.
I wanted to put a gourmet chocolate in the box, but wanted something sealed. I think it’s important to put sealed edibles in gifts so people know they haven’t been touched. I decided to use a Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate Raspberry squares, since it’s foil was pink. To jazz it up a bit, I cut pieces of thick, embossed brown scrapbook paper and sealed it with double sided tape so you couldn’t see seam on the back. I used a simple fabric flower sticker to top it off. They were super easy, inexpensive and looked adorable in the boxes. You could do that with any theme.
Her Mom chose the ribbons to match the baby’s nursery, which is done in a brown and light rose. Very sweet and classy. The tables were set with mauve and ivory hydrangeas in simple glass block vases and wrapped with the same ribbon as the favors. The tables were simple and elegant and the glass blocks mimicked the favor cubes and were all “tied” together by the matching ribbon. So simple and elegant for a summertime brunch.
Since I had a little helper, not quite old enough to be trusted with nail polish and body scrub, I made her a “special” favor box. Loaded with crayons and candy and fun things to do, so as not to get bored. If you’re planning a shower, I highly recommend this. Little ones can get antsy and this really helps keep them entertained.
It was a beautiful day for a beautiful shower for a beautiful soon-to-be welcomed to the world little girl.
Here is a list of where the supplies came from.
